Four arrested following fatal shooting

Four men have been arrested following yesterday’s fatal shooting in Santee, Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Friday.

“Our investigation indicates that one of the suspects, who had an ongoing disagreement with the male victim, saw the male victim cashing a check at a local store. The male victim left the store and Deshaun Fordham and Donte Stokes opened fire on the male victim’s vehicle in the roadway of Highway 6 near Live Oak Church, striking the female victim,” Ravenell said. “The male victim was able to drive away and notified law enforcement at a business in Santee. The male victim was able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle."

The deceased woman is 31-year-old Kathy Mack of Jamison Avenue in Orangeburg.

Slain woman's body found in van in Santee




Woman's body found in van parked in Santee

SANTEE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a woman's body was found inside a parked van in Santee.
Investigators say it appears 31-year-old Kathy Mack of Orangeburg was shot to death, but an autopsy has been ordered to confirm how she died.

Authorities told the Times and Democrat of Orangeburg that the body was found in the van around 4 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses say crime scene technicians looking for evidence in the van also found a small puppy.


Woman Stabbed During Bible Study

 GREER, S.C. (AP) - A woman has been hospitalized after Greenville County deputies say her husband stabbed her during a Bible study meeting.

Deputies say they arrived at the Kingdom Hall in Greer on Thursday afternoon and found several congregation members in the sanctuary holding 46-year-old Leonard Edwards Jr. Edwards' wife was on the floor with a stab wound to the back.


13 arrested during sweep of Ladson subdivision


A sweep carried out by multiple law enforcement agencies at the Woodside Manor subdivision in Ladson netted 13 arrests, drugs, and 4 handguns early Friday.

Charleston County Sheriff's Office Major Jim Brady said agencies executed seven search warrants around 5:30 a.m. As a result, 39 arrest warrants were served and 13 people are already in custody.
The warrants are a result of investigations into increased criminal activities in the community over the past several months including drug sales and several drive-by shootings, some of which had not previously been reported to the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, Brady added.

Police patrols in West Ashley increase after Lion murder



The murder of 17-year-old Marley Lion happened in a parking lot right off of Savannah Highway in West Ashley. The shooting was caught on surveillance video and the shooter was last seen heading into the Ardmore Neighborhood.

Charleston Police Officer Nate Fry patrols the Ardmore Neighborhood just about everyday and night.
"I wish I was working at four o'clock in the morning when the homicide occurred, we would have been right here. We would have had a good chance to catch the suspect," said Fry.

Fry said the Ardmore Neighborhood was the only place for the shooter to run.

"In order for them to have any type of escape route it would be into the Ardmore Neighborhood. I think it's unfair that the people that don't live in this neighborhood. Thinks it's automatically someone that lives in that neighborhood. We don't know that. Nobody will know that until we find that suspect," said Fry.

Cops: Woman stole from out-of-town Facebook pals

Investigators say a woman broke into the homes of her Facebook friends after finding out they were out of town by their posts on the social networking site.

Deputies say 39-year-old Candace Landreth and 44-year-old Robert Landreth Jr. burglarized several Anderson County homes over the past two months.

Investigators say they turned the tables on the pair, arresting them after they were identified in surveillance photos the sheriff's office posted on Facebook selling stolen merchandise at a Greenville video game store.
