S.C. State University mired in cesspool of politics, Congressman Clyburn says

Sixth District Congressman James Clyburn said the recent controversy at his alma mater, South Carolina State University, is manufactured and that the university’s problems are largely political.

“Fundamentally, there is absolutely nothing wrong with South Carolina State,” Clyburn said Tuesday. “Politically, it is a cesspool. That is all it is. You can check it on all you want for as long as you want. You can find that is true.”

“You are not going to find any criminality at SCSU,” he continued. “I would put my life on that, but that is not to say that there aren’t some people who may be guilty of doing something that has nothing to do with the school.”
