Transit officials getting riders ready for cuts, changes to bus schedules

The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority is preparing to help riders maneuver recent cuts to bus service when those changes go into effect Monday, bus officials said.

At its monthly board meeting Wednesday, the transit authority said the “first wave” of about 25,000 new schedules and maps is being printed this week. Riders should begin seeing the new schedules today, said Larry Livingston, operations manager for CMRTA.

In the meantime, some 3,000 rough copies outlining the changes have been printed and distributed at the Sumter Street Transit Center and on buses.
