3 Million More May Be Uninsured Under Ruling, Study Says

WASHINGTON — The Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday that the Supreme Court decision on President Obama’s health care overhaul would probably lead to an increase in the number of uninsured and a modest reduction in the cost to the federal government, compared with estimates before the court ruling.

The court said, in effect, that a large expansion of Medicaid envisioned under the 2010 law was a state option, not a requirement.
As a result, the budget office said, it now predicts that six million fewer people will be insured by Medicaid, the federal-state program for low-income people. But half of them, it said, will probably gain private insurance coverage through health insurance exchanges to be established in all states.
On balance, the budget office said in a new report, “about 3 million more people will be uninsured'’ in 2022.

Memories of Sylvia’s, ‘the Mecca of Soul Food’

Kathy Willens/Associated Press

Long before the Red Rooster showed up in Harlem, before the buses came teeming with tourists, there was Sylvia’s. Opened in 1962 by Sylvia Woods, a waitress from Hemingway, S.C., the restaurant started tiny, then grew and grew, becoming a place visited by nearly every local politician, music mogul and civic leader. Ms. Woods published cookbooks, hobnobbed with celebrities and became a brand long before the word became fashionable. Interviews have been condensed and edited.
Whether the food was great was a source of some debate, but the restaurant’s influence was not. Here, after Ms. Woods’s death at 86 from Alzheimer’s last Thursday, some of her best-known patrons recall the time they spent there:

Publisher's Note:

Ordinarily, I don't post articles about a lot of celebrities because I couldn't care less what they do, or say, which for the most part, becomes meaningless especially when there are so many people unemployed, struggling to pay their bills, battling with homelessness, and so forth.  I couldn't care less about ANY celeb going to jail, or who's dating whom for the moment, and screwing with someone else at a latter moment.

But I do believe when you're 'right you're right,' and whenever I see something that deserves recognition, such as giving props when it's due a person, or persons, then such props should be acknowledged.

Kudoes to Beyonce . . . Again, what's right is right, and a person have got to give credit when credit is due!  Yeah, I said it, and I'm sticking to it!

BEYONCE PISSED Over Lauryn Hill Diss at BET Awards

Beyonce wasn't laughing when a boy band DISSED Lauryn Hill at last night's BET Awards ... in fact, Bey was so upset, she changed her acceptance speech (on the fly) to HONOR the former Fugee.

So let's start with The Diss -- Comedian Mike Epps and the group Mindless Behaviorwere co-presenting the award for Best R&B Artist when Mike jokingly tried to sing.

One of the members of the group quipped, "You sing BAD ... like Lauryn Hill's tax accountant bad."

The diss drew gasps from the crowd ... and pissed off Beyonce, who ultimately WON the award that was being presented.

But TMZ has learned ... B was so upset, she scrapped the speech she had prepared and defended Lauryn's honor instead ... saying, "I want to thank all the talented R&B women that came before me like Lauryn Hill and Mary J. Blige."

When B walked off stage, there was a woman waiting for her -- possibly a BET handler -- and B began to vent about the insult, saying the Lauryn Hill diss was "disrespectful" and "not cool."

The woman complimented Beyonce for adding Lauryn Hill's name to her acceptance speech ... to which Beyonce replied, "I just felt [the diss] was wrong."
