Updated: Gunwoman sought in Orangeburg shooting

Police are looking for a female who reportedly walked up to a stranger and shot him.

 

The suspect has been described as an approximately 25-year-old black female standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall. She is said to be wearing a yellow shirt with blue and had long burgundy and black hair.

According to police, the woman walked up to a man at the dumpster at the  John C. Calhoun Drive Super 8 motel around midday Thursday and shot him.

Perdue signs bill that requires CPR training

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina high school students will be required to learn CPR and the Heimlich maneuver before earning their diplomas starting in 2015.

Gov. Beverly Perdue signed into law Thursday a bill that requires students to show proficiency in cardiopulmonary resuscitation training before graduation. She says it's a way to save lives.


SC Sites Among Federal Synthetic Drug Sweep




Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Sites in Charleston and Greenville are among a federal synthetic drug crackdown in 30 states that targeted the designer drugs bath salts and K2.

The US Justice Department says more than 90 people were arrested and investigators found 19 million packets of synthetic drugs and seized more than $36 million in cash during "Operation Log Jam".

The busts happened in 109 cities across the country. Investigators have not released specific details about what was seized during the busts in Charleston and Greenville.
