Gun sales surge in US following Colorado shooting
American buyers of firearms fear politicians may use the Aurora massacre to push for new ownership restrictions
Firearms sales are surging in the US in the wake of the Colorado massacre as buyers express fears that politicians may use the shootings to seek new restrictions on owning weapons.
In Colorado – the scene of Friday's shooting during the screening of a Batman film that killed 12 and injured dozens of others – gun sales jumped in the three days that followed. The state approved background checks for 2,887 people who wanted to purchase a firearm – 25% more than the average Friday to Sunday period in 2012 and 43% more than the same period the week before.
Randy Jackson: Lawyers Using MJ Children To Pressure Our Mom
In a stunning interview tonight with the Rev. Al Sharpton on MSNBC’s “Politics Nation,” Randy Jackson — brother of the late Michael Jackson — portrayed Monday’s fracas at the Jackson compound and the reports of his mother Katherine Jackson being missing as part of a nefarious plot by the current executors of Michael Jackson’s will to “deflect the tension away” from accusations of “criminal misconduct on their part.”
“They’re using the children to try and put pressure on my mom and try to get her to come out and say things in her favor,” Randy Jackson told Sharpton in a phone-in discussion.
Randy Jackson and several of his siblings recently sent a letter to the will’s executors — John Branca and John McLain — claiming that the will was a fake.
“They know that they’ve been caught. They know that they falsified the document. What they’re trying to do is put the attention on something else.”
Significantly, it was Sharpton himself who vouched during the live broadcast for Randy Jackson’s claims that Michael Jackson could not have been in California on the day the will was signed and notarized there.
“That weekend that Michael Jackson was to have signed that will in Los Angeles, he was in fact in Harlem with me that weekend,” Sharpton said.
