The suspect in the Denver movie theater shooting, who allegedly killed a reported 12 people and injured at least 38 at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises," has been identified as James Holmes.
Holmes is reportedly a 24-year-old white American male, the Associated Press reported on Friday morning.
The young man opened fire around 12:30 a.m. MDT Friday morning at the Century Aurora 16 movie theater in Aurora, Colo.
Law enforcement officers told ABC News that Holmes was dressed in all black and wearing a bulletproof vest and gas mask.

DirecTV, Viacom reach an agreement
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - DirectTV subscribers who want their MTV, Sponge Bob SquarePants or comedian Jon Stewart are getting their wish.
Viacom Inc. and the satellite TV service provider said Friday that they have settled a dispute that had cut off access to 17 Viacom channels for DirectTV subscribers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Channels such as MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon had been inaccessible to some 20 million DirecTV customers since July 10 as the two companies haggled over how much DirecTV should pay to carry those channels.
3 arrested in death of 71-year-old Hanahan man
HANAHAN, S.C. -- Police have arrested three people in the death of a 71-year-old Hanahan man earlier this week.Police Lt. Michael Fowler says 39-year-old Robert Randolph Clark, 24-year-old Robert Andrew McFadden and 24-year-old Brittany Lynn Swanger are charged with murder.
Roy Bennett was found dead at his home Sunday afternoon. Police think he was killed in a robbery Sunday morning.
Fowler says the suspects were living in area motels.
They are being held in the Berkeley County jail. It was not clear if they have lawyers yet.
Commerce: Boeing relationship opens doors for SC
