Classes begin at South Carolina State University in a week but a number of juniors and seniors in the university’s licensure nursing program learned Monday their future in nursing hangs in limbo.
The university’s Generic Bachelor of Science in Nursing was scheduled to eliminate freshman and sophomore classes this fall and be phased out by 2014, when upper classmen completed the course of study.
However, some students in the upper division of the program say they were told by the administration Monday that only six juniors and eight seniors had scored high enough on annual testing to be allowed to register to complete the program.
