The senior U.S. senator from Illinois says Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has a responsibility to update the public on his medical condition “soon,” increasing pressure on the Chicago Democrat to explain his absence from Congress.“As a public official, there comes a point when you have a responsibility to tell the public what’s going on,” Sen. Dick Durbin said Monday at an event in Chicago, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “If there is some medical necessity for him not to say more at this moment then I will defer to that. But he will have to soon make a report on what he’s struggling with.”
