Sales Tax Holiday – List (Sales and Use Tax)
What is called a 'Sales Tax Holiday' in the State of South Carolina will begin Friday, August 3rd, at 12:01 a.m., and end Sunday, August 5th at midnight.
During this time, tax-exempt purchases can be made providing taxpayers with an exemption on 6% statewide sales tax, and local taxes. The tax-free weekend urges taxpayers to shop for back-to-school supplies, and more, with businesses located throughout the state of South Carolina.

Viacom, DirecTV standoff heads into uncharted territory
Viacom took down some full-length episode streams on its websites. Instead, it now displays a video ad suggesting viewers call DirecTV.
NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- As one of the largest cable blackouts in the industry's history stretches into its fourth day, analysts say they're not holding their breath for a quick resolution. Both sides have too much at stake in a fight affecting 20 million DirecTV customers.
Many industry watchers think Viacom will get some of the fee increase it's seeking, but not without a protracted battle.
